Summary of the court trial

The case started with Mr. Heck Tate saying how he calls Tom Robinson to the stand. He said how he called no one to help him when he saw his daughter supposedly, beaten and raped. His version was he Mr. Ewell came in and told him about his daughters problem and sped off to quickly stop it. He did say He saw Tom for a minute before he ran off like a coward. After that he just said that Tom used his hand to beat up her right when it actually was his left.
When it came to Mayella she only cried and acted mean towards Atticus. She only repeated that he helped her split the chifferobe when he later got behind her, choked her, then had his way with her. After that She only remembers him beating her then running away. Atticus managed to catch her mistake when he made her repeat it and give out more info than before.
Lastly was Tom Robinson his self. He said that hes been walking back and fourth from there house to get to work for years. He's had conversation with Mayella and that involved helping her do some chores. Soon enough he starts helping her dailey and with out payment. The last time he tried to help her though he ended up going into her house and Mayella trying to have her way with him. Being nice he stops her but then runs from hearing the shouts of Mr. Ewell saying he'll kill Mayella.

Mayellas and tom Robisons summarization

Mayela sounds rash and a little bit hateful towards the blacks, especially Atticus. She tells the court about the repeated factors like a broken recorder, saying how she was hit and beaten then raped.  As Atticus is being polite like he always is to her and the other questioned, it seems like Mayella is taking insult to it or like he's mocking her. She seems to be putting off that she's being forced into telling her side of the story by some one else when Atticus notices a flaw in what happened. After that she falls silent not saying any more and just cries to get out of her situation like she's gaining pity or sorrow from the judge and listeners. Her home life seems to be revolved around being the mom of the siblings since she was the only one besides the father to learn and finish school.

We will read chapter 19 and 20 today.  I want you to record Tom Robinson's testimony, and your reaction to it, on your blogs for homework.  How is Tom Robinson like a mockingbird?

Tom Robinson said that he has been walking past the Ewells house for as long as he can remember in order to get to and from work. He has occasionally talked to Mayella but never for long amounts of time. Soon he started to work for her with his first chore being to split a chiferobe. After doing that he rejected her money and soon started doing even more jobs from her. One day though she soon invited him into her house where she soon tried o have her way with him. Tom was attempting to stop her but soon Mr. Ewell saw them and broke it up, then Tom ran away.
Tom is like a Mocking bird because as a one just sings its heart out to others and doesn't cause any trouble, Tom just helps out others for free. He's never caused any trouble besides his one crime and doesn't ask for anything in return.
